Residents of Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and nearby areas in Lagos State will experience a four-day power outage, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced.

According to TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the blackout will take place on October 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2025, and will last eight hours daily — from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The company explained that the planned outage is necessary for preventive maintenance on two major transmission lines:

Ajah/Lekki 330kV line (October 11)

Ajah/Alagbon 330kV line (October 12, 18, and 19)

During the maintenance period, TCN engineers will install a transformer protective system on the 300MVA 330/132/33kV transformer at the Alagbon Transmission Substation, and replace corroded insulators on critical towers along both lines.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause electricity customers in Lekki, Ikoyi, Jakande, and surrounding areas during this period,” TCN said in its statement on X (formerly Twitter).

This development comes just a few months after Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies announced a 25-day blackout in parts of Lagos in July 2025 for similar maintenance works.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
