The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended 26 suspected kidnappers and recovered four locally fabricated firearms, other dangerous weapons, and N546,000 believed to be part of ransom proceeds.

The arrests took place between 3rd and 5th October 2025 during a series of coordinated operations across multiple locations in the state.

DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, stated that the operations involved officers from the Anchau Division, the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS), and the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

“In one early morning operation on October 5, six suspects, including Jibrin Abubakar, a.k.a. ‘Oga’, were arrested following credible intelligence,” Hassan said.

The suspects are accused of kidnapping 60-year-old Idris Adamu on 22nd September, holding him for several days, and releasing him after a ransom of N5 million was paid. Two more suspects were arrested following a gun duel with police, while two others remain at large.

Recovered items include two locally fabricated pump-action guns, five empty cartridges, amulets, and N546,000 in cash, reportedly part of the ransom.

In a separate operation on 3rd October, Habibu Alhaji Ahmadu, a.k.a. “Munyaye” from Ikara LGA, was arrested with two fabricated revolver rifles. He confessed to a previous attack and was linked to a local bandit gang, although his accomplices, Buhari and Shede, are still at large.

On 4th October, raids in Gazara Village, Makarfi LGA, led to the arrest of 14 suspects, including a previously charged kidnapper, Bello Umar.

All arrested suspects are in police custody as investigations continue, with the command actively pursuing remaining gang members and recovering more weapons.
