SUSPECTED HERDSMEN KILL TWO FARMERS IN BENUE COMMUNITY
Tension has gripped Goh community in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State after two farmers were killed on Thursday in a suspected herdsmen attack.
The victims, identified as Monday Orlovuu and his friend, were said to have been ambushed and murdered while working on their farm, about four kilometres from Naka, the council headquarters.
Local sources revealed that the tragic incident happened shortly after the Chairman of Gwer West Local Government Council visited the community to inspect farmlands allegedly destroyed by grazing cattle.
The fresh killing has left residents deeply worried, describing it as part of a pattern of repeated assaults on farming communities in the area. Many fear that the attacks could escalate if urgent measures are not taken.
As of the time of this report, security agencies and local authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the attack.
The community is now calling for swift government intervention and stronger security presence to protect farmers, whose livelihoods remain under constant threat.
