Tension gripped Pyekman village in Tafawa-Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State after suspected herders launched an attack on local farmers, leaving three people seriously injured.

The victims — Esther Amos (58), Naomi Sabo (37), and Emmanuel Manasseh (16) — were reportedly attacked on Monday evening while working on their farmland.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed that the farmers sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital in Tafawa-Balewa, where they are currently receiving treatment.

In response, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police has ordered tactical units, including Operation Restore Peace (ORP), the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and the Rapid Response Squad (RSS), to move into the area. The reinforcement is expected to restore calm and prevent further violence.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions between farmers and herders in parts of northern Nigeria, an issue that has repeatedly led to clashes, loss of lives, and displacement in rural communities.

For now, residents of Pyekman village remain on edge as security operatives continue their patrols to secure the area.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
