A surveyor, Gabriel Anyim, has cried out for justice after accusing a lawmaker from Okitipupa Local Government Area of destroying his property in Akure, Ondo State.

In a petition addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 17, Akure, Anyim called for a thorough investigation and the prosecution of the lawmaker involved in the alleged act of vandalism.

According to the petition dated November 6, which was filed through his lawyer, Boluwaji Awololaju, Anyim said the affected property is located at Block AG, Plot 24, Arijodi & Ologunmolare Families Layout, Promise Estate, along Ilado Road, Alagbaka Extension, Akure South Local Government Area.

He alleged that the lawmaker invaded and destroyed his building at the said address without any legal justification.

The petitioner, who resides at No. 1, Odofin Street, opposite St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School Junction, Akure, explained that he legally purchased the land from another surveyor, Adams Azeez, who got the title from the accredited representatives of the Arijodi and Ologunmolare families, the original owners of the layout.

Anyim urged the police authorities to ensure that justice prevails and that those responsible for the destruction are brought to book.

As of press time, the identity of the lawmaker and the extent of the damage had not been officially confirmed, but the petition has already attracted public attention, with many calling for a transparent investigation into the matter.
