SUPREME COURT VERDICT: NATASHA URGES AGGRIEVED PDP LEADERS TO RECONCILE
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on aggrieved leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to embrace reconciliation and resolve internal disputes following recent court rulings affecting the party.
The Kogi Central lawmaker appealed in a statement issued in Abuja, amid growing tensions and factional disagreements within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She cautioned against misinformation surrounding the Supreme Court judgment, stressing that the ruling had been widely misinterpreted in political discussions.
According to her, the apex court only invalidated the Ibadan Convention and did not address issues relating to the suspension of party officials.
Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the suspension of the PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, had earlier been affirmed by the Court of Appeal but expired in December 2025.
She added that the affected officials were later included in a caretaker committee set up to oversee party affairs and organise the March 2026 national convention.
The senator maintained that the outcome of the convention remains valid and recognised, noting that the party’s leadership structure is reflected on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s portal.
Despite the ongoing crisis, she expressed optimism about the PDP’s chances in the 2027 elections, urging members to resolve differences amicably and focus on strengthening the party.
