Nigeria’s Super Falcons etched their name yet again in African football history, becoming the first-ever team to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) ten times following a sensational 3–2 victory over host nation Morocco in the final held in Rabat on Friday night.

Facing a two-goal deficit at half-time, the Falcons roared back in the second half to spark massive celebrations and cement what they called “#MissionX”.

Esther Okoronkwo ignited the resurgence with a precise finish in the 64th minute, narrowing the score to 2–1. Shortly after, Folashade Ijamilusi drew level, weaving past defenders before scoring from a clever Okoronkwo assist. In stoppage time, substitute Jennifer Echegini capped off the comeback, slotting home from Okoronkwo’s long-range freekick to deliver Nigeria the title in the dying minutes of the match.

This comeback sealed Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title in ten final appearances, reinforcing their unparalleled dominance in African women’s football.

In addition to the title, the Falcons dominated the tournament’s individual awards:

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, having earned Player of the Match in three games, including key performances in the group phase, quarter-final, semifinal, and the final.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was crowned Best Goalkeeper, conceding only two goals throughout the entire competition—both in the final—and showcasing exceptional composure and crucial saves in the knockout stages.

Despite Morocco’s spirited performance and a goal from their star striker, the Falcons’ determination and tactical resolve proved decisive. South Africa, the defending champions, earned the Fair Play Award in recognition of their disciplined conduct through the competition.
