SUPER FALCONS CAPTAIN AJIBADE: WOMEN’S FOOTBALL STILL FAR BEHIND MEN’S IN REWARDS

Super Falcons skipper and Paris Saint-Germain forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, has spoken out about the huge gap between men’s and women’s football when it comes to financial rewards.

Speaking on the Leadership Podcast hosted by Stephen Akintayo, Ajibade admitted that although women’s football has grown in recent years, it still lags far behind men’s football in terms of recognition and sponsorship.

“Female football is not as rewarding as male football. The financial reward is not even close,” she said.
“To be honest, the narrative is changing compared to 10–12 years ago. Every year there is always an improvement which we appreciate, but the gap is still really wide from male football.”

The PSG star explained that the inequality is largely due to a lack of awareness and limited sponsorship opportunities in the women’s game. She called on stakeholders, brands, and fans to show more support for female football so that players can be better rewarded for their efforts.

Ajibade’s remarks highlight a growing conversation in global sports about closing the gender gap and ensuring women athletes receive fair recognition and compensation.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
