The Super Eagles have officially begun preparations for their 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against Gabon, with 18 players now assembled in Rabat, Morocco ahead of Thursday’s high-stakes clash.

The team opened camp on Sunday, and coach Eric Chelle conducted the first training session on Monday with available players. Captain William Troost-Ekong, along with Calvin Bassey and Benjamin Fredrick, were among the key figures participating in the initial drills.

Other notable players already in camp include Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Stanley Nwabali, Tolu Arokodare, and Chidozie Awaziem. The remaining three invitees are expected to join the squad before match day.

The playoff will determine Nigeria’s path to the intercontinental playoffs, bringing the Super Eagles one step closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
