SUPER EAGLES CLIMB FOUR SPOTS IN LATEST FIFA RANKING, BREAK INTO AFRICA’S TOP FIVE
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed four places in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking, moving from 45th to 41st globally. The update was released by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Friday.
The upward movement also sees the three-time African champions break into the top five teams on the continent, now ranking fifth in Africa — behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
The improvement follows Nigeria’s impressive performances in their recent international fixtures, where the Super Eagles secured victories against the Crocodiles of Lesotho and the Squirrels of Benin Republic in the World Cup qualifiers.
At the global level, Spain retained the top spot, while Argentina climbed to second place. France, England, and Portugal complete the world’s top five ranked teams.
The rise marks a positive sign for head coach Eric Chelle’s side, as the Super Eagles continue their preparation for the upcoming 2026 World Cup playoffs and aim to solidify their position among Africa’s elite football nations.
