SULTANATE COUNCIL URGES MUSLIMS TO LOOK OUT FOR SAFAR 1448AH CRESCENT
The Sultanate Council has called on Muslims across Nigeria to look out for the crescent moon marking the beginning of Safar 1448AH.
In a statement, the council urged Islamic leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the Muslim community to observe the sky after sunset on the designated day and report any credible sighting of the new moon through the appropriate channels.
The council explained that verified moon sightings would be used to determine the commencement of the second month of the Islamic calendar in accordance with established Islamic practice.
It encouraged anyone who successfully sights the crescent to promptly communicate the information to the nearest district or village head, Emirate Council, or relevant Islamic authority for verification.
The Sultanate Council reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the announcement of the new Islamic month is based on authenticated reports received from across the country.
Islamic scholars noted that moon sighting remains an important religious practice used to determine the beginning and end of Islamic months, including periods of worship and religious observances.
The council also urged Muslims to continue praying for peace, unity, security, and national development while observing the values of compassion, patience, and righteousness.
It assured the public that an official announcement would be made after the verification of all credible moon sighting reports.
Muslims nationwide have been encouraged to participate in the exercise and support the established process for confirming the beginning of Safar 1448AH.
The council expressed gratitude for the continued cooperation of the Muslim faithful and prayed for Allah’s guidance and blessings upon the nation.
