STUDENT LOAN DISBURSEMENTS RESUME AS NELFUND RESOLVES DELAY
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has resumed the disbursement of upkeep allowances to student beneficiaries who have updated their bank details from digital wallets to traditional commercial bank accounts.
In a statement issued Friday, the Fund’s Director of Corporate Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, described the move as a major step toward resolving earlier delays in payments.
“So far, over 3,600 students who initially registered with digital-only banking platforms have now received their outstanding upkeep payments after switching to commercial bank accounts via the NELFUND portal,” he said.
Oluwatuyi also expressed appreciation for the patience shown by affected students, noting that their cooperation was key to the progress made.
Next Steps for Outstanding Payments
Students who are yet to receive their payments and still use digital wallet accounts are advised to submit a support ticket through the official NELFUND portal to request permission to update their banking details.
Alternatively, they may report their cases through their institution’s IT office, which will escalate them to NELFUND for resolution.
The Fund reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring no eligible student is left behind and emphasized its ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency, transparency, and student-focused delivery of its services.
Students are urged to communicate only through official NELFUND channels and to support peers who may need assistance with the update process.
“We thank all students for their continued patience and cooperation as we work toward a more inclusive and dependable student loan system,” the statement concluded.
