STOP WEAPONIZING IGNORANCE, LAGOS APC WARNS ATIKU OVER PARDON
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to comments by Phrank Shaibu, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, over what he described as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “pardon U-turn.”
In a statement issued on Thursday, the party described Shaibu’s remarks as a “cocktail of ignorance, frustration, and political bitterness” from a camp “desperate for attention.”
The APC spokesman in Lagos, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, said Atiku’s team should stop “weaponizing ignorance,” stressing that President Tinubu’s actions are guided by law and due process, not emotion.
“Leadership is not about noise but responsibility,” Oladejo stated. “Unlike the impulsive and uninformed commentary typical of the opposition, President Tinubu’s decisions are anchored on the rule of law and national interest.
“In advanced democracies, informed review and reconsideration are signs of credible leadership and institutional maturity—not weakness. Only in the shallow imagination of the opposition does consultation and constitutional refinement amount to a ‘U-turn.’”
Oladejo emphasized that Nigeria deserves better than what he termed “desperation politics.”
“The Nigerian public is tired of bitterness-driven politics, where sound governance decisions are attacked merely to create noise,” he said. “President Tinubu is focused on strengthening institutions, not catering to emotion or social media theatrics. While responsible leaders build, petty politicians rant.”
He urged Nigerians to disregard what he called “the latest media convulsions from a defeated politician’s corner,” reaffirming that President Tinubu would continue to lead with constitutional discipline, courage, and clarity of purpose.
“Nigeria is moving forward,” Oladejo concluded, “and no amount of political tantrums will change that reality.”
