‘STOP RAPING WOMEN’: SIMI ADVOCATES DEATH PENALTY FOR RAPISTS

Afrobeats singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has stirred controversy after advocating for capital punishment for rapists.

Reacting on Tuesday night, the singer passionately appealed to citizens and authorities to take stronger action against sexual assault targeting women.

“I’m sickkk of this. Stop raping women. They need to castrate rapists and burn them,” she wrote in a forceful post on X.

Her call for severe punishment for rapists sparked intense debate, with some arguing that similar penalties should apply to false rape accusers. Simi, however, clarified that her message was solely in support of rape victims, not false accusers, which further fueled the discussion.

Addressing criticism from some male fans, Simi explained that her advocacy stems from personal awareness, noting that almost all the women she knows have experienced sexual assault at some point. She emphasized that fears of false accusations should not silence those speaking out against sexual violence.

“How many of your friends have actually assaulted women as vibes?? Women are terrified to go out. Women in their homes are not safe either. Ask your sisters. Ask your female friends and your girlfriends. Ask your wives. We’re not all crazy. Stop raping women,” she urged.

Simi also called on men to hold one another accountable, criticizing a culture that enables sexual violence through silence and inaction.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
