STERLING BANK CHAMPIONS NIGERIA’S NON-OIL EXPORT DRIVE WITH CAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVES
Sterling Bank Plc has reinforced its commitment to diversifying Nigeria’s economy, intensifying support for non-oil exporters through targeted capacity-building programmes and strategic forums aimed at unlocking the sector’s full potential.
The bank recently hosted the “Excel in Non-Oil Export” forum across key cities, bringing together exporters, regulators, and policymakers to discuss value addition, compliance, and market expansion strategies. This aligns with Nigeria’s push to reduce dependence on oil revenues, as non-oil exports rose significantly in 2025.
Sterling Bank, in partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University, established the Non-Oil Export Academy to equip operators with practical skills in processing, packaging, quality standards, and international trade logistics. The initiative focuses on high-potential commodities such as cocoa, sesame, cashew, ginger, and solid minerals.
Managing Director/CEO of Sterling Bank, Abubakar Suleiman, emphasised the bank’s role in providing financing, advisory services, and ecosystem support to help businesses scale and compete globally. The bank has positioned itself as a leading partner for exporters navigating regulatory hurdles and accessing markets.
Stakeholders believe these efforts will accelerate non-oil export growth, create jobs, and enhance foreign exchange earnings. With ongoing training and financing windows, Sterling Bank continues to drive Nigeria’s trade sovereignty and economic resilience.
