STANDARD CHARTERED TRAINS 600 NIGERIANS IN DIGITAL SKILLS
Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria has trained 600 Nigerians in digital skills as part of its efforts to improve employability and prepare young people for opportunities in the digital economy.
The training programme focused on equipping participants with practical digital skills that can support employment, entrepreneurship, and participation in Nigeria’s growing technology sector.
The initiative reflects the increasing demand for workers with digital capabilities as businesses across different industries adopt technology and automate more of their operations.
Standard Chartered said the programme forms part of its broader commitment to supporting skills development and creating opportunities for young people.
Stakeholders noted that digital skills development is particularly important in Nigeria, where a large young population is entering the labour market each year.
They said programmes that provide practical training can help bridge the gap between the skills employers require and those available among job seekers.
The bank also stressed the importance of partnerships among financial institutions, government agencies, technology companies, and educational organisations in expanding access to digital education.
Participants are expected to apply the skills acquired through the programme in employment, business, freelancing, and other income-generating activities.
Industry experts said sustained investment in digital skills would help Nigeria build a workforce capable of supporting innovation and competing in the global digital economy.
Standard Chartered reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that promote employability, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic opportunities through skills development.
