STAKEHOLDERS CALL FOR INCREASED INVESTMENT IN NIGERIA’S GREEN ECONOMY
Stakeholders across the public and private sectors have renewed calls for greater investment in Nigeria’s green economy to drive sustainable development and combat climate change.
At a recent high-level forum, participants emphasised the need for more funding towards renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and eco-friendly infrastructure. They noted that a vibrant green economy could create millions of jobs, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance resilience against environmental challenges.
Experts highlighted opportunities in solar power, clean technology, circular economy initiatives, and green financing instruments. They urged the government to provide policy incentives, improve regulatory frameworks, and strengthen public-private partnerships to attract both local and foreign capital.
Participants also called for capacity building and awareness campaigns to encourage wider adoption of green practices across industries and communities. The consensus was that prioritising the green economy is essential for long-term economic diversification and meeting Nigeria’s climate commitments.
The forum ended with a commitment from stakeholders to collaborate on actionable strategies that will unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s green economy.
