Nigerian Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy has been crowned the Top Afrobeats Artist of 2025 by global streaming platform Spotify.

In its newly released ranking of the year’s Top Afrobeats Artists, Spotify placed Burna Boy at number one, further solidifying his dominance in the genre.

The list is a Nigerian-only affair, with Rema taking the second spot and Wizkid coming in third. Rising star Asake and Roc Nation signee Ayra Starr completed the Top 5, reflecting the strength of Nigeria’s continued global influence in Afrobeats.

One surprise from the list, however, was the absence of Davido, often considered part of Afrobeats’ “Big 3” alongside Burna Boy and Wizkid.

Spotify also revealed the top countries streaming Afrobeats in 2025, with the United States leading the pack. Other countries in the top six include Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Nigeria.

The recognition cements Afrobeats’ status as one of the fastest-growing genres in the world, and Burna Boy’s global appeal as its leading face.
