SPORTYTV TO BROADCAST NBA GAMES FREE-TO-AIR IN NIGERIA, GHANA, KENYA AND SOUTH AFRICA
SportyTV has signed a three-year deal to broadcast National Basketball Association (NBA) games free of charge across four major African countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa.
The announcement brings good news to basketball fans who previously had limited or paid access to live NBA games. Starting immediately, viewers in these countries can watch selected live matches, highlights, and other NBA content without any subscription or paywall.
SportyTV said the partnership will begin with playoff games. The broadcaster plans to air several games during the current playoffs, including key matchups leading up to the NBA Finals. Beyond live games, fans will also get daily highlights, analysis, and other basketball programmes.
This move is expected to greatly increase access to the NBA across Africa. Basketball has been growing steadily on the continent, with many young people following stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Wembanyama, and African players in the league.
By making games available on free-to-air television and through its app, SportyTV aims to bring the excitement of the world’s biggest basketball league closer to millions of fans, especially those who could not afford premium sports packages.
The three-year agreement shows growing interest in African markets by major global sports leagues. It also strengthens SportyTV’s position as one of the leading sports platforms on the continent.
Fans can tune in via SportyTV’s broadcast channels and the SportyTV app, which is available on mobile devices. The company has promised more details on exact broadcast schedules and additional content in the coming days.
This development is already generating excitement among basketball communities in the four countries, with many looking forward to following the playoffs and the NBA Finals for free.
