Electric mobility company Spiro has received recognition for its expansion of electric transport and battery-swapping infrastructure in Nigeria.

The company was named the “Most Sustainable Integrated Electric Vehicle Ecosystem Company of the Year” at the West Africa Sustainability Summit 2026 in Lagos.

Spiro Nigeria Country Head and Managing Director, Prasad Sane, received the award on behalf of the company during the summit’s awards ceremony.

Since beginning operations in Nigeria, Spiro has expanded into several markets with electric motorcycles and battery-swapping stations.

The company’s model allows riders to replace depleted batteries at designated stations instead of relying on conventional fuel to power their motorcycles.

Spiro said the approach can help riders reduce fuel and maintenance costs while increasing earnings and lowering carbon emissions.

Sane said the recognition reflected the efforts of the company’s employees, riders, partners and customers in promoting cleaner transportation.

The West Africa Sustainability Summit recognises organisations working on environmental sustainability, social impact and responsible business practices across the region.

Spiro said it would continue expanding access to electric mobility and developing its battery-swapping network as demand for alternative transportation options grows.
