Omoyele Sowore Calls for Release of Regina Daniels’ Brother, Alleges Ned Nwoko’s Involvement in Detention

Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding actress Regina Daniels and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

In a post shared on Instagram, Sowore demanded the immediate release of Regina Daniels’ brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, who was reportedly remanded at Keffi Prison on Thursday.

The activist accused Senator Nwoko of allegedly using his political and financial influence to facilitate Sammy’s detention, describing the move as “an act of tyranny.”

“I have again been informed that the so-called criminal billionaire and APC Senator, Senator Ned Nwoko, has used his influence, working hand-in-glove with the illegal Inspector General of Police, to have a young man unjustly imprisoned at the notorious Keffi prison,” Sowore wrote.

He further claimed that Nwoko allegedly collaborated with Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and other judicial authorities to carry out the detention, which he said highlights the abuse of power by influential individuals in the country.

Sowore described the incident as another example of injustice and oppression, calling on the Nigerian public to speak out against what he called “state-backed bullying.”

“The victim in this latest act of tyranny is Samuel Ojeogwu, the younger brother of Nwoko’s now-estranged wife, Regina Daniels,” he added.

The activist’s post has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing outrage over the alleged arrest and detention. Others called for transparency and due process in handling the matter, emphasizing that personal or family disputes should not lead to the misuse of state institutions.

The reported marital crisis between Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko has drawn increasing public attention in recent days, with several celebrities — including Anita Joseph — also voicing their support for the actress and her family.

As of now, there has been no official response from Senator Nwoko or the Nigerian Police regarding Sowore’s allegations.
