SOKOTO OBIDIENTS DONATE ₦5,000 EACH TO PATIENTS IN HONOUR OF PETER OBI’S BIRTHDAY
In celebration of the birthday of former presidential candidate Peter Obi, members of the Obidient Movement in Sokoto State provided financial support to over 100 underprivileged patients at the Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital.
Each patient received ₦5,000 to help offset medical expenses — a gesture the group said was inspired by Obi’s unwavering commitment to social welfare and a more inclusive Nigeria.
During the outreach, the chairman of the organising committee in Sokoto, Abubakar Yawale, explained that the initiative was part of a broader nationwide effort, simultaneously taking place across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“This is the kind of politics Peter Obi represents — one that is compassionate, people-focused, and genuinely impactful,” Yawale stated. “Our principal has always exemplified leadership through service, and we are simply reflecting those values by extending help to the needy.”
Yawale also recalled Obi’s visit to Sokoto last year, during which he commissioned a borehole and other developmental projects at Usmanu Danfodiyo University. He emphasized that Obi’s commitment to service transcends politics.
He further noted that the donations were raised by members of the Obidient Movement as a meaningful way to celebrate Obi’s birthday — aligning the gesture with his philosophy of service to humanity.
“We want people in Sokoto and across Nigeria to see who truly has their interests at heart,” Yawale said. “Peter Obi and the Obidient Movement are dedicated to building a Nigeria where healthcare, education, and human dignity are fundamental rights — not privileges.”
Yawale also encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in Obi’s vision and leadership as a transformative force capable of restoring the nation’s hope.
