The Sokoto State Executive Council has approved multiple projects covering education, healthcare, transport, security, and religious affairs at its first meeting of 2026.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu led the approvals aimed at improving public services and infrastructure across the state.

Among the projects approved is ₦336.6 million for the renovation of residences and staff quarters at Sokoto City University, as well as ₦179.3 million to upgrade the clinic at the State College of Basic and Remedial Studies into a primary healthcare centre.

The council also approved over ₦956 million for the renovation of Government Secondary School Trike and the establishment of a centre for out-of-school children.

In the transport sector, ₦78.34 million was approved for the rehabilitation of facilities belonging to the Sokoto State Transport Authority.

For healthcare expansion, ₦221.9 million was approved to complete the long-abandoned Wamakko General Hospital project.

In the religious sector, ₦144.6 million was earmarked for the construction of a central Jumaat mosque in Shuni and the completion of a mosque at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps headquarters.

Additional approvals included ₦141.97 million for security outposts and a mechanical workshop in Gwadabawa to support safety and agricultural productivity.
