Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has revealed the reason behind her recent absence from social media, saying the online space has become too toxic for her peace of mind.

The award-winning actress, who had been offline for over a month, made the revelation in a post on her Instagram page on Wednesday.

Ireti explained that she needed to “disappear again” because social media — and the world in general — had become increasingly negative and overwhelming for her quiet soul.

She wrote:

“I used to wonder what I’d do with myself once I became an ‘empty nester’.
Now I know.
Had to disappear again…
The streets of SM (nay, the world in general) are becoming too toxic for my quiet soul.
How have you been?
I hope you’re protecting yourself.
Peace ✌🏾
#EmptyNest #AnotherSoloTrip #Abundance #Ease #Flow.”

The post has since drawn warm reactions from fans and colleagues who expressed support and understanding, commending Ireti for prioritising her mental and emotional well-being.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
