SNOOP DOGG BECOMES CO-OWNER OF SWANSEA CITY IN BOLD CROSS-OVER BETWEEN RAP AND FOOTBALL

Swansea City has welcomed an unexpected new co-owner: American rap legend Snoop Dogg. The Championship club confirmed the news on Thursday, marking a unique fusion of global entertainment and Welsh football.

The 53-year-old artist, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, joins Croatian football icon and recent AC Milan signing Luka Modrić in the club’s ownership group. Modrić, who ended his illustrious Real Madrid career this summer, was announced as a stakeholder in April.

Snoop Dogg’s involvement follows the club’s acquisition by American entrepreneurs Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November. His appearance in the club’s new 2025–26 home kit on social media last week sparked speculation, which has now been confirmed.

A lifelong football fan, Snoop expressed enthusiasm about his investment, saying:

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.
The story of the club and the community really struck a chord with me — a proud, working-class club and city. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

With over 100 million followers across social platforms, the rapper's global reach could offer Swansea a major boost in visibility and brand power as the club aims to return to the Premier League for the first time since their 2018 relegation.

Club owners hope that the added exposure and investment will help increase revenue, enabling more spending on players within the constraints of British football’s profit and sustainability rules.

In a statement, Swansea’s leadership referenced one of Snoop’s iconic tracks:

“To borrow a phrase from Snoop’s back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we aim to grow the club’s reach and ambitions.
His massive global audience and genuine passion for the sport will help us build a more competitive side on the pitch.”

Snoop Dogg joins a growing trend of celebrity involvement in English football. Swansea’s Welsh rivals, Wrexham AFC, have enjoyed a dramatic rise since being purchased by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2020, culminating in their recent promotion to the Championship.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
