Six out of the nine members of the House of Representatives from Ondo State have lost their return bids following the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary elections conducted across 203 wards in the state’s nine federal constituencies.

The affected lawmakers are Timilehin Adelegbe, representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency; Donald Ojogo of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency; Derin Adesida of Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency; Festus Adefiranye of Odigbo/Ile Oluji/Okeigbo Federal Constituency; Jimi Odimayo of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency; and Festus Akingbaso of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.

The APC National Assembly Primary Committee Chairman, Iboroma Dabibi, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the democratic principles of the party.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dabibi urged aspirants and supporters to unite after the primaries and focus on the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

“Elections may generate varying interests, but we must never allow internal bitterness, division, or rancour to weaken our progress.

“After this primary election, we must all unite as one strong, indivisible family, fully focused on the bigger task ahead: the 2027 general elections to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ondo State and all our National Assembly candidates at the polls,” he said.

Meanwhile, APC leaders and chieftains in Owo and Ose local government areas congratulated Kayode Ijalana on his victory in the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency primary election.

One of the party leaders, Chief Rufus Omosola, described the outcome as significant for the constituency’s political future and expressed confidence in the party’s chances ahead of the general elections.

“The coming months will be crucial as the party begins strategic mobilisation towards the 2027 elections,” he stated.

Omosola also appealed to party supporters to remain committed to ensuring victory for APC candidates and President Bola Tinubu in the next general elections.

“On behalf of the leader of the APC in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, I want to appeal to our supporters to continue to work vigorously for the victory of our candidate and for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the general election next year,” he added.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
