SIMPSON: I FEEL SORRY FOR SESKO, QUESTIONS FIT OF THREE MAN UNITED PLAYERS
Former Manchester United defender Danny Simpson has expressed concern over the roles of Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui, and Diogo Dalot under manager Ruben Amorim, following the club’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Goals from Phil Foden and a brace from Erling Haaland sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s men, leaving United in a difficult position once again.
Speaking after the game, Simpson admitted he felt sympathy for new striker Benjamin Sesko, who looked isolated throughout the clash.
“The ball goes to Dorgu on the left. City let him have it because they know he’s not going to hurt them,” Simpson told Stadium Astro.
“He’ll run up and down all day, but there’s nothing down the flanks. When Amad plays as a wingback, he’ll try to make something happen, but with Dorgu, Mazraoui or Dalot, I just don’t think it works in the Premier League.
And trying to create chances… I felt sorry for Sesko today. He’s trying, but there’s nothing he can do.”
The defeat leaves United under pressure, with Amorim facing big questions over his system and player selection.
