Shooting Stars of Ibadan recorded a hard-fought 2–1 win against Rivers United in a Nigerian Professional Football League clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday.

The home side took the lead in the 27th minute when forward Emmanuel Adeyemi capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot the ball past the Rivers United goalkeeper. Rivers United responded with increased pressure but were unable to find the equalizer before halftime.
