SHETTIMA DEMANDS END TO ATTACKS ON NIGERIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on the South African Government to take steps to end the reported attacks and mistreatment of Nigerians living in the country.

Shettima said Nigerians should be able to live and work in South Africa without facing violence, harassment or discrimination.

The Vice President made the call amid renewed concerns over incidents involving Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South Africa.

He urged the South African authorities to protect Nigerians and ensure that those responsible for attacks or unlawful treatment are held accountable.

Shettima stressed the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and South Africa while addressing issues affecting citizens of both countries.

He said Nigeria expects the South African Government to uphold the rights and dignity of Nigerians living within its borders.

The Vice President also called for stronger cooperation between both countries to prevent future incidents and improve the safety of Nigerian citizens.

The concerns come amid longstanding tensions over xenophobic attacks and discrimination against migrants in parts of South Africa.

Nigerian authorities have continued to engage their South African counterparts on the need to protect Nigerian citizens and promote peaceful relations between both countries.

Shettima urged Nigerians living in South Africa to remain law-abiding and report incidents of violence or harassment to the appropriate authorities.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to protecting the interests and welfare of its citizens abroad.

The Vice President said sustained dialogue and cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa would be necessary to address the concerns and strengthen relations between the two countries.
