SENATOR NATASHA AKPOTI ALLEGES PASSPORT SEIZURE, SAYS SHE’S BEEN STOPPED FROM TRAVELLING AGAIN
Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has raised alarm that she has once again been prevented from travelling abroad after her international passport was allegedly withheld.
Speaking during a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday morning, the lawmaker expressed frustration over what she described as a recurring act of intimidation.
According to her, after completing activities marking her second year in office, she decided to take a short break outside the country — only to discover that her passport had been seized again.
“I have committed no offense and there is no court order authorizing the seizure of my passport,” Senator Natasha lamented. “The last time this happened, an officer told us that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, gave instructions to withhold my passport and stop me from travelling.”
The senator, who has been vocal about governance and accountability issues, said she found the development disturbing, insisting that no public official should be subjected to such treatment without legal backing.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Office of the Senate President or relevant authorities regarding the senator’s claims.
