SECURITY OPERATIVES DESTROY CRIMINAL HIDEOUTS, RECOVER WEAPONS IN IMO
Joint security operatives in Imo State have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against crime, dismantling several hideouts of criminal gangs and recovering dangerous weapons.
The operation, which involved the Police, Military, and Department of State Services (DSS), targeted notorious criminal strongholds in Ezioha (Mbaitoli LGA) and Umuele, Ubuakpu, and Amakor (Njaba LGA).
According to the State Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the raids led to the destruction of terrorists’ camps, the recovery of arms and ammunition, and the safe detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
During the encounters, several criminals were neutralized, while others were arrested for investigation. Some suspects managed to escape with bullet wounds.
Okoye explained that the visit of top security chiefs to the operation sites was aimed at boosting the morale of the operatives, assessing progress, and reaffirming the commitment of security agencies to restore peace in the state.
Commending the security personnel, the service chiefs praised their professionalism, resilience, and discipline in confronting terrorism and other violent crimes.
The Imo State Police Command has assured residents that the joint forces remain determined to sustain the pressure on criminal elements until lasting peace is restored across the state.
