SECURITY GUARD ARRESTED IN RIVERS STATE FOR ALLEGED RAPE OF 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A security guard identified as Godday has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the Mothercat area of Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt.
The arrest was carried out last Tuesday by officers from the Trans-Amadi Police Division, with assistance from security personnel of a nearby bank.
According to the victim’s mother, who requested anonymity to protect her family’s privacy, the incident occurred on Saturday, September 20, 2025. She had sent her daughter to withdraw money using her ATM card due to illness, providing transport fare for the trip.
The girl first withdrew money at a bank in Mothercat, then proceeded to Ordinance Junction for another transaction. After confirming she was done, her mother waited for her return, but the girl failed to show up at the expected time. Repeated calls went unanswered until she finally responded in a faint voice, saying she was on her way home.
Upon arrival, the girl was visibly injured—her clothes soaked with water and blood, her face and limbs bruised, and her jaw and eye swollen. She was immediately taken to the police station and then to a hospital for treatment.
Once stable, the girl recounted that while withdrawing money at Ordinance, a man stood behind her but never used the ATM. Later, she saw the same man at another bank in Mothercat. He allegedly dragged her into the bank premises where he worked as a security guard, locked the gate, and assaulted her.
During the attack, she was beaten until she lost consciousness. Hours later, the man reportedly woke her up and told her to leave. Her mother later discovered that ₦340,000 was missing from the withdrawn funds.
The incident was reported again to the bank at Mothercat, prompting a search that led to the suspect’s arrest.
The Rivers State Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest and stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation. The building where the assault occurred, formerly used by a new generation bank, has been secured by police.
The victim is currently receiving medical care, while Dennis Otobo, a member of the Association Against Child Sexual Abuse and Gender-Based Violence in Rivers State, has urged swift prosecution of the suspect to ensure justice is served.
