SECURITY AGENTS ARREST HUNDREDS OF ARMED THUGS DURING KANO BY-ELECTION
Security operatives in Kano State have arrested hundreds of heavily armed political thugs during the ongoing by-election.
The development was confirmed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Kano, Ambassador Abdu Zango, who told journalists that the thugs were intercepted while attempting to move into Bagwai, one of the voting centers.
Zango further revealed that in Shanono, another flashpoint area, thugs nearly disrupted the movement of election materials. However, swift intervention by security operatives helped restore calm and ensured voting continued without major disruptions.
He acknowledged that Shanono has a history of election-related violence, but assured that the strong presence of security personnel has so far kept the situation under control.
Despite the attempt by thugs to cause chaos, the REC emphasized that the by-election is progressing smoothly across the state, thanks to the vigilance of security agencies.
