S’EAST GOVERNORS STILL WORKING FOR NNAMDI KANU’S RELEASE – GOV OTTI
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed claims that South East governors have abandoned the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking during a media parley on Thursday night in Umuahia, Otti stressed that the governors are in constant engagement with the federal government over Kanu’s release.
According to him, not all discussions are made public, as premature disclosure could undermine ongoing negotiations.
“Some of the engagements and assurances we have received are not for public consumption since it may derail the process. But as his Governor, I’m at the forefront of ensuring he comes back home. All the South East governors are together in this,” Otti said.
His clarification follows Wednesday’s protest by Igbo elders at the Abia Government House, Umuahia, where they accused political leaders of neglecting Kanu and urged Otti to mobilize his colleagues to engage President Bola Tinubu.
Otti assured that efforts are ongoing behind the scenes and reiterated his commitment, alongside other governors in the region, to secure Kanu’s freedom.
