SDP INSISTS ON EX-OFFICIALS’ PROSECUTION OVER ALLEGED FRAUD
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has renewed its demand for the immediate prosecution of some former party officials accused of massive financial fraud and misappropriation of party funds.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, the party said it would not sweep the matter under the carpet, insisting that justice must take its course.
“The SDP will continue to push for the prosecution of those individuals who allegedly diverted huge sums meant for party activities. We are committed to transparency and internal democracy,” the statement read.
The party revealed that a detailed petition had already been forwarded to anti-graft agencies, including the EFCC and ICPC, with concrete evidence of the alleged fraud.
SDP stakeholders expressed disappointment over the delay in prosecuting the ex-officials, warning that failure to act swiftly could erode public confidence in the party.
The development comes as the SDP positions itself for stronger performance in future elections, with leaders emphasising zero tolerance for corruption within its ranks.
