An All Progressives Congress chieftain in Ekiti State, Henrich Akomolafe, has described the Supreme Court judgment affirming Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the party’s candidate in last month’s governorship election as another opportunity to deepen the state’s development agenda.

Akomolafe said this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday while congratulating Oyebanji on the apex court’s verdict.

He described the judgment as “a victory for democracy and the collective will of the people of Ekiti State.”

An APC governorship aspirant, Abimbola Olawunmi, had challenged Oyebanji’s emergence as the party’s candidate. However, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the suit and affirmed Oyebanji as the APC candidate.

Akomolafe said, “The judgment presents another opportunity for the administration to deepen its development agenda while promoting peace, unity and inclusive governance throughout Ekiti.

“Governor Oyebanji has continued to demonstrate purposeful leadership through policies aimed at improving infrastructure, agriculture, education, youth empowerment and economic development across the state.

“Governor Oyebanji has earned another opportunity to consolidate on the progress recorded so far. As youths, we will continue to stand for peace, development and policies that improve the lives of our people. Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Ekiti State.”

According to him, the Supreme Court’s decision has finally laid to rest every legal challenge surrounding the governorship election.

He urged political stakeholders across party lines to close ranks and support the governor in delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.

Akomolafe also called on Ekiti residents to remain united and continue supporting the governor, saying sustained collaboration between the government and the people would accelerate development across the state.

He reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising support for initiatives that would empower youths, promote entrepreneurship and expand opportunities for the next generation, adding that the future of Ekiti depended on investing in its young population.
