SANWO-OLU URGES MANAGERS TO EMBRACE ETHICAL LEADERSHIP

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Nigerian managers and professionals to strengthen ethical leadership, embrace innovation, and build institutions capable of responding to rapid economic and technological changes.

Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Deputy Governor, Kadri Hamzat, made the call at the 65th Anniversary Dinner and Awards Night of the Nigerian Institute of Management in Lagos.

The event, themed “Leading Through Transformation: The Human Element in Modern Leadership,” focused on the changing demands facing leaders in both the public and private sectors.

The governor said rapid urbanisation, technological disruption, economic transformation, and changes in the workplace were creating new challenges for managers.

He urged professionals to combine strategic thinking and technical competence with integrity, adaptability, and continuous learning.

Sanwo-Olu also stressed the importance of building strong institutions that can sustain public trust, stability, and long-term economic development.

He encouraged Nigerian managers to embrace digital transformation and maintain high professional standards as businesses and institutions compete in an increasingly global economy.

The governor commended the Nigerian Institute of Management for its contribution to developing management professionals and promoting excellence in the field.

He urged the institute to continue strengthening professional standards and equipping managers with the skills needed to navigate Nigeria’s changing economic environment.

The anniversary event also recognised the contributions of past NIM presidents and other professionals to management practice in Nigeria, while Hamzat was invested as a Fellow of the institute.
