SANWO OLU ORDERS IMMEDIATE REPAIRS OF BAD ROADS ACROSS LAGOS

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu has ordered immediate repairs of deplorable roads across the state in a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving movement for residents and motorists.

The directive comes amid ongoing concerns about the condition of roads in different parts of Lagos, where potholes, damaged surfaces and deteriorating road infrastructure have made daily commuting difficult for many residents.

Poor road conditions have remained a major concern for Lagos residents, particularly commuters who spend long hours travelling to work, school and business appointments. Bad roads can damage vehicles, increase transportation costs and contribute to traffic delays, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.

Sanwo Olu’s directive is expected to encourage relevant state agencies and road maintenance teams to address damaged roads and improve conditions for motorists and pedestrians. Prompt repairs could help reduce the daily difficulties faced by residents and make movement across affected communities easier.

For commercial drivers, transport operators and business owners, road conditions directly affect operating costs and the time required to move people and goods. Residents also face additional expenses when vehicles are damaged by potholes or drivers are forced to take longer alternative routes.

However, the impact of the directive will depend on how quickly repair work begins, the number of roads covered and the quality of the work carried out. Residents will also expect repairs to last rather than provide only temporary relief before the roads deteriorate again.

Lagos, one of Nigeria’s busiest commercial centres, depends heavily on an effective road network to support economic activities and daily transportation. Improving damaged roads is therefore important not only for convenience but also for public safety and economic productivity.

Residents will be looking forward to seeing repair teams at work in affected areas and improvements in road conditions in the coming days.

While the governor’s reported directive signals an effort to address the problem, sustained maintenance and proper monitoring will be essential to ensure that the repairs deliver lasting benefits to Lagos communities.
