Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians in the diaspora and international business leaders to consider investing in Lagos, assuring them that the state remains open to long-term partnerships.

Sanwo-Olu made the appeal following his participation in the inaugural Africa Business Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., where he engaged investors, business leaders and policymakers on ways to attract more capital and create economic opportunities in Lagos.

The governor said his discussions with members of the diaspora focused on practical ways of strengthening partnerships and directing investments towards projects and businesses that could generate opportunities for people in Nigeria.

According to him, Lagos has significant investment potential across several sectors, particularly infrastructure, technology and finance. He described the state as Africa’s largest sub-national economy and said the opportunities being created across different sectors make Lagos an attractive destination for investors.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that his administration would continue to promote an environment capable of supporting businesses and attracting both local and international capital.

He also emphasised the importance of partnerships that can translate investments into tangible economic benefits, including job creation and expanded business opportunities for residents.

The governor said Lagos remained committed to strengthening its position as one of Africa’s leading business destinations by creating opportunities for investors and supporting enterprises seeking to establish or expand their operations in the state.

His engagement with diaspora investors forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to attract international investment and deepen economic partnerships beyond Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu therefore urged prospective investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in Lagos, assuring them that the state was prepared to work with partners interested in building sustainable, long-term businesses.

The governor’s appeal comes as Lagos continues to position itself as a major economic and commercial hub, with investments in infrastructure, technology, finance and other sectors expected to play a key role in driving future growth.

He reiterated that the state would remain open for business and continue pursuing partnerships capable of creating jobs, expanding economic activity and strengthening Lagos’ position as a leading investment destination in Africa.
