RUSSIA SAYS OVER 400 UKRAINIAN DRONES INTERCEPTED, INFANT KILLED NEAR MOSCOW
Russian authorities have reported intercepting over 400 Ukrainian drones in recent days as part of intensified aerial defence operations, while an infant was killed in a drone-related incident near the capital.
The Russian Defence Ministry stated that its air defence systems successfully neutralised the majority of the drones targeting various regions, preventing major damage to critical infrastructure. However, debris from one intercepted drone caused the death of a young child in a residential area outside Moscow.
Local officials expressed condolences to the family and vowed to investigate the circumstances. Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the specific claims. The incident has heightened tensions and raised concerns over civilian safety amid the ongoing conflict.
Russia has increased its air defence posture in response to what it describes as escalating Ukrainian drone attacks on its territory. The development comes as both sides continue to exchange accusations of targeting civilians and infrastructure.
International observers have called for restraint and protection of non-combatants in line with humanitarian law.
