Royal Court Private School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has inaugurated a new 13-member Governing Council with former General Manager of Nigeria LNG Limited, Sir Godson Dienye, appointed as chairman.

The new council was inaugurated on September 21, 2026, at the school’s premises on East-West Road, Rumuokini, near the University of Port Harcourt. It is expected to strengthen the school’s governance, raise academic standards and support its next phase of development.

Dienye, a former senior executive of NLNG, will lead the council, while Boma Okaka, who served on the previous council, was retained as vice chairman. Tony Epelle, Managing Consultant at SAMUELSON Advisory Partners, was also retained as a council member.

Other members include Ruth Briggs, Lois Abraham, Douye Okoba, Sunny Ade, Victor Graham-Douglas, Nnazoba Dunu and Sogba Peterside, the school’s Executive Director and Founder.

Speaking on behalf of the Adolphus Peterside Trust, former NIMASA Director-General, Dakuku Peterside, urged the new council to build on the achievements of its predecessors while maintaining accountability and institutional independence.

He said the school’s role should extend beyond academic results to developing students with competence, character and a sense of responsibility.

Founded in 2011, Royal Court Private School is a co-educational, boarding secondary school that teaches the British National Curriculum within a Nigerian context.
