‘ROUGH ROAD AWAITS YOU’ — NNPP CHAIRMAN ISSUES WARNING TO DEFECTORS
The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ajuji Ahmed, has taken a swipe at former members who recently defected to other political parties, warning that they will face significant challenges in their new political homes.
Speaking at the party’s 10th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday in Abuja, Ahmed said those who abandoned the NNPP should expect a “rough road” ahead, describing their decision as ill-advised.
He labeled the defectors as “renegades” and maintained that although the NNPP may not be the largest political party in the country, it remains stronger, more cohesive, and more united than many others.
Ahmed urged loyal party members to disregard the actions of those who left, stressing that defection from a peaceful and stable party to ones plagued by internal crises would only result in hardship.
He also criticized major political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that despite repeated attempts by external forces to destabilize the NNPP, the party has remained firm and united.
According to him, the NNPP is free from internal division and is not under the control of any individual or external influence.
“The NNPP is not fragmented into factions, nor does it have multiple chairmen,” Ahmed said. “We have not been captured, weakened, or rendered ineffective by any external force. We remain united and committed to our founding principles.”
He further dismissed the actions of defectors, saying:
“I urge you to completely ignore the antics of those who now parade themselves as defectors. May their road continue to be rough. If anyone chooses to leave calm waters only to plunge into turmoil, we wish them well on their journey. We are NNPP, and we stand united.”
