ROSE DUNG TAKES OVER AS 32ND COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, SPECIAL FRAUD UNIT, LAGOS
Mrs. Rose Dung has officially taken office as the new Commissioner of Police for the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos, becoming the 32nd officer to head the unit.
Her appointment comes following the elevation of her predecessor, Okunade Ronke, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).
This development was announced in a statement by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ovie Ewhubare.
Originally from Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, Mrs. Dung holds a B.Sc. in Sociology from the former Bendel State University, Ekpoma—now Ambrose Alli University.
She joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and began her career at the Abia State Police Command after completing training at the Police Academy Annex in Kaduna.
Over the course of her more than 30-year career, she has served in various key roles across multiple commands and formations. These include serving as Divisional Police Officer in Agbara, Ogun State; Commandant at the Police Training School in Iperu; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Ondo State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) in Bauchi State. Prior to her new role, she was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
A seasoned officer, Mrs. Dung has participated in numerous leadership and strategic training programs. She is also a member of respected international organizations, such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Women Police.
Upon assuming duty, she thanked the Inspector-General of Police for the opportunity and pledged to lead with integrity, enforce the law diligently, and pursue the Unit’s anti-fraud mission with professionalism and dedication.
