RONALDO STORMS OFF AS LATE GOAL DENIES AL NASSR VICTORY IN FIERCE RIYADH DERBY

Al Nassr were left stunned on Tuesday night after a dramatic stoppage-time twist saw victory slip away against city rivals Al Hilal in a tense Saudi Pro League clash that ended 1-1.

The match, widely billed as the Capital Derby, looked set to go in favour of Al Nassr until a late own goal by goalkeeper Bento in added time rescued a point for Al Hilal and completely changed the mood inside the stadium.

The result leaves Al Nassr still firmly in the title race, but frustrated at missing the opportunity to edge closer to securing the championship.

Al Nassr had taken control of the encounter in the first half after defender Mohamed Simakan opened the scoring, giving the visitors belief that a crucial away win was within reach.

For much of the game, Al Nassr managed proceedings with discipline and structure, with Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates appearing on course for a defining victory in their push for the league title.

However, the match took a chaotic turn in stoppage time when a defensive lapse led to Bento turning the ball into his own net, sending the home crowd into celebration and Al Nassr players into disbelief.

Moments after the final whistle, Ronaldo was seen walking directly down the tunnel in visible frustration, skipping post-match interactions as disappointment filled the Al Nassr camp.

Tensions had already boiled over late in the game, with a heated touchline exchange between players and coaching staff from both sides escalating into a brief scuffle. One member of Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus’ technical team was shown a red card as officials struggled to restore order.

The dramatic ending ensures the Saudi Pro League title race remains open, but Al Nassr will feel this was a missed opportunity they could ill afford at this stage of the season.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
