RONALD KOEMAN’S WIFE BARTINA DIES AT 65 AFTER CANCER BATTLE
Bartina Koeman-Boddeveld, the wife of former Barcelona and Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman, has died at the age of 65. Bartina passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after battling breast cancer, with her death confirmed by her husband.
Ronald Koeman announced the heartbreaking news on social media, sharing a tribute to his wife, whom he had been married to since 1985. The couple had three children together and had remained together throughout Koeman’s long career as both a footballer and manager.
Bartina had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and had undergone treatment during her battle with the illness. She continued to support her husband during his managerial career, including his spells in charge of Southampton, Everton, Barcelona and the Netherlands national team.
Koeman, one of the most decorated Dutch footballers of his generation, has spent much of his post-playing career in management. He was part of the Barcelona team that won the European Cup in 1992 before later returning to the club as manager and guiding them to the Copa del Rey in 2021.
Tributes have begun to emerge following Bartina’s death, with friends and members of the football community offering their condolences to Koeman and his family. She was 65 years old.
