The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has begun efforts to attract Chinese investors into Nigeria’s oil and gas sector as part of plans to increase investment and boost revenue accruing to the Federation Account.

The commission is preparing to organise an Oil and Gas Investment Summit in China, tentatively scheduled for the end of November 2026. The summit will focus on investment opportunities across the upstream and downstream segments, with particular attention to Nigeria’s vast gas resources.

RMAFC’s Investment Monitoring Committee Chairman, Ekene Enefe, said the initiative was aimed at attracting fresh capital into the petroleum industry and unlocking more value from the country’s natural resources.

He said the commission had engaged relevant government agencies, including the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, as part of preparations for the summit.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, expressed support for the initiative, stressing the need to showcase Nigeria’s investment opportunities.

RMAFC said increased investment in the sector would help raise production, expand government revenue and strengthen the country’s position in the global energy market.
