RMAFC SUBMITS POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS’ SALARY REVIEW REPORT TO TINUBU
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has submitted a report on the review of salaries, allowances, and remuneration packages for political office holders to President Bola Tinubu for consideration.
The commission said the review was carried out in line with its constitutional responsibility to determine and periodically review the remuneration of public office holders in Nigeria.
According to RMAFC officials, the exercise considered prevailing economic realities, fiscal sustainability, and the need to maintain a balanced compensation structure within the public sector.
The report is expected to provide recommendations on adjustments to the remuneration packages of elected and appointed political office holders across different levels of government.
Officials noted that the submission does not automatically translate into immediate implementation, as the recommendations will undergo the necessary review and approval processes.
Stakeholders have expressed interest in the outcome of the report, particularly in light of ongoing discussions about public expenditure, governance costs, and economic conditions facing the country.
Economic analysts say any decision on remuneration adjustments will likely attract public attention given concerns about government spending and the welfare of ordinary citizens.
RMAFC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that remuneration policies remain fair, transparent, and consistent with constitutional provisions and national economic realities.
