RIVERS POLICE ARREST PASTOR FOR FLOGGING 20 CHILDREN IN ‘SPIRITUAL CLEANSING’
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested Pastor Ifediorah Onyeibor Joseph for allegedly subjecting 20 children, most of them minors, to inhumane treatment during a so-called “spiritual cleansing” program.
Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Oko, confirmed the arrest in a statement, revealing that the incident came to light after a disturbing video surfaced online showing the pastor flogging the children.
According to the police, the pastor had organized a three-day program for the children at his church, claiming he was “inspired by the Holy Spirit” to conduct the cleansing ritual.
“Upon receiving the report, operatives swiftly acted on coordinated intelligence, arresting the pastor and several church members at the scene,” Iringe-Oko said.
The rescued children are now safe, while authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to uncover the full details and motives behind the incident. The police promised to share further updates as the case progresses.
