Fresh details have surfaced on the death of a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Abdurrahman Jankare, who was reportedly killed by a rival during an internal clash in Tsaskiya village, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Security and local sources, cited by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, confirmed that Jankare was shot dead on Thursday by another bandit known as Nazanku, an associate of the infamous gang leader, Dan Ori.

The incident was said to have stemmed from a disagreement over a confiscated rifle and a bag of magazines belonging to Nazanku.

“Last week, Jankare seized Nazanku’s rifle, and just yesterday, he also took a bag in which he kept magazines. This angered Nazanku, who confronted him and shot him dead,” one of the sources disclosed.

Reports indicate that only seven individuals were present at Jankare’s burial, which took place later that same day.

Until his demise, Kachalla Jankare was recognized as one of the most dreaded lieutenants of the late Kachalla Usman Modi Modi and was linked to multiple attacks and kidnappings in Dutsinma, Safana, and Kurfi Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

His death has reportedly heightened tensions among rival bandit factions operating across the north-west forest axis.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
