The House of Representatives has called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue worshippers abducted during a church gathering and ensure justice for a pastor who was killed in Ekiti.

Lawmakers expressed concern over the growing insecurity affecting religious communities, describing the attack as a disturbing assault on the right of citizens to worship freely and safely.

The House urged the police, military, and other security agencies to track down the perpetrators, secure the release of the kidnapped victims, and bring those responsible for the pastor’s death to justice.

Members also called for increased security surveillance around places of worship and vulnerable communities to prevent similar incidents.

The resolution followed deliberations on the security situation in Ekiti State, where the incident has sparked outrage among residents and religious leaders.

Lawmakers stressed that protecting lives and property remains a fundamental responsibility of government and urged authorities to act swiftly to reassure affected communities.

The House further extended condolences to the family of the slain pastor and prayed for the safe return of the abducted worshippers.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
